Draft. This is a plain-language draft describing how the
product currently works. Have it reviewed by qualified counsel before relying on
it — insurance and consumer-data laws (including GLBA and state privacy laws)
may impose additional requirements.
Coverage Checkup is a free, educational tool that reviews your insurance
declarations pages, shows you coverage gaps in plain English, and — only if you
ask — connects you with licensed local agents for quotes. This policy explains
what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
- Documents you upload — your declarations pages (PDFs) and the coverage
details we extract from them.
- Answers you give — e.g. net worth range, basement value, whether you
run a home office, used to tailor the review.
- Contact details — only when you request agent quotes or create an
account (name, email, phone).
- Anonymous usage events — a random session id and step counts so we can
see whether the product is useful. No personal information is stored in these.
What we do with it
- Build your coverage review and the targets you choose to shop for.
- With your explicit consent, send your coverage summary, quote targets, and
contact details to the specific agents you select so they can quote you.
- Send you transactional email (verification, password reset, quote
confirmation).
- We do not sell your personal information.
How your data is handled
- By default, nothing is kept — your dec pages are used to build the
report and then discarded.
- If you choose to save a checkup to your vault, your documents and
report are stored encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit, and you can
delete them anytime.
- Saved homeowner contact details in a lead record are encrypted at rest.
Service providers
We use a small number of vendors to run the service, who process data only on
our behalf: Anthropic (reads declarations text to extract coverage
fields), Resend (sends our email), and our hosting provider. We are not
affiliated with your insurance carrier.
Your choices
- Use it without an account — the default review requires no login.
- Delete your data — signed-in users can delete any saved checkup, or
delete their entire account and all stored data, at any time from the app. You
can also email us at the address below.
- Agent sharing is opt-in — we only share your details with agents you
select and consent to.
